Augustine’s career started on the investment banking side, including a decade-long service at Goldman Sachs, where he focused on global macro trading and risk-taking with the firm’s capital, with considerable time spent working across the London, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong financial centers. Post his sell-side career, he joined a large HK-based family office as the Director of Investments, with a multi-asset focus that spanned across both public and private markets, and a wide investment mandate that covered most of the major investable asset classes globally.
Along with an established record of risk-taking profitability, he has provided in-depth market insights to clients including professional money managers, large-cap listed companies, sovereign wealth funds, and Central Banking Reserve institutions over the years. In addition, with first hand experience and successful navigation of prior financial events, including post 9-11, Lehman shock, and the European debt crisis, he has been through the full waves of business cycles and is comfortable with identifying and investing through different secular market environments.
Augustine is a graduate of the UBC Sauder School of Business as a Leslie Wong Fellow (2002), and also maintains a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. An avid skier, curious learner, and a keen student of macro, he has borne witness to the transience of markets over numerous episodes, and thus deeply values his current role of building tangible, lasting, and meaningful working relationships across professional and personal capacities.
